Immigrant Expriences

Australia's history is shaped by the stories and lives of those who by choice or force made Australia their home. We are enriched by the strength of the migrant experience and for the most part that experience has been relatively peaceful. But that does not mean it was without hardship or struggle. Imagine the young girls brought to Australia by Caroline Chisholm, the Italian miner on the Kalgoorlie Goldfields, the British family bewildered by the forest of our South West, the Fairbridge boys, the Dutch couple leaving behind a home destroyed by war, the refugees fleeing oppression and dictatorship, the family sponsored by another to start a new life in Australia. What are their stories? How have they triumphed over adversity?
